The Transverse Range Residency is an interdisciplinary office for ecological inquiry, located in the foothills of Tujunga, Los Angeles. Situated within the dynamic ecotone of the Transverse Ranges, the residency invites researchers and cultural practitioners to engage deeply with local ecology, Indigenous histories, and evolving land-use narratives of the northeast San Fernando Valley and Crescenta Valley.


All residencies are funded and span two weeks (14 days) at the Transverse Range cabin in Tujunga. 



RESIDENCY DETAILS

Residencies at Transverse Range typically span two weeks (14 days).

Residents enjoy a private cabin with lodging and workspace in Tujunga, Los Angeles, CA 91042. 

Tujunga is located approximately 18 miles from Downtown L.A., and 12 miles to Highland Park/Silverlake.

Residents agree to participate in a public program (lecture, reading, screening) at Bolton Hall in Tujunga during or within one month of their residency.

Residents are self-directed and self-sufficient in the cabin without technical or production needs from the residency.

Residents have access to SAYER’S storefront and Chaparral Commons garden during their residency. 

Local residents are free to use the Residency as an office/studio and return home as desired.

NOTE: 1Due to the architectural limitations of the historic cabin house, TR is not currently ADA/wheelchair accessible. 2Cabin can comfortably accomodate single guests only. 3Pets welcome at the Residency’s discretion.


FEES & FUNDING

This residency is funded. Funding covers studio and lodging accommodations for the two-week residency period.

Accepted applicants who commit to a residency term are responsible for a one-time, non-refundable $120 Administration Fee Donation to the residency within three weeks of acceptance. There are no additional costs to attend.

Travel, meal, material and research expenses are the resident's responsibility.
